J U L I E G A L L O is a Detroit/Boston-based photographer with a primary concentration in live music and portraiture. Though she often works digitally, her foundation lies in darkroom processing, working with 35mm and 120mm film.

She has been nationally recognized for her work through the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards and locally through the College for Creative Studies (Detroit, MI) and Oakland University Art Gallery (Rochester, MI), from where she has received a degrees in Studio Art Photography and English.

Julie transforms into her role as a photographer by becoming a quiet observer of the fleeting details, expressions, or moments on stage that often go unnoticed between the movement of lights and sound. She strives to capture artists lost within their own worlds, as the experience of live music itself creates a sort of alternative reality; a world within a world.

Music and photography remain two of the greatest loves of her life; it’s only become natural to combine them.
